What a Clickee actually is
One keycap. A real switch underneath it, so it travels and springs back and makes a noise doing it. Four connectors around the edge, so it clips to the next one on any side. No battery, no electronics, nothing to charge - the entire mechanism is the switch and the clips, which is why these survive being carried in a pocket for a year.
The collectible part is the artwork on the cap and the fact that boxes are blind. Series 3 runs to seventy characters across four themes; the Hello Kitty and Friends range is smaller, at around thirty. Nearly every box in this catalogue includes a fold-out collector's guide printing the full line-up, which is the practical difference between collecting and just accumulating.
Four ranges, and how they differ
Series 1 came first and its caps are square, with a sharp mechanical click. Series 2 followed with a half-blind twist: one cap shown on the pack, one a mystery. Series 3: Bubble Pops rounded the shell and softened the sound to a pop. The Hello Kitty and Friends range shares the Series 1 hardware and puts Sanrio characters on it. All four use identical clips, so caps from any of them go on the same chain and the same cubes - a point the packaging never makes and the single most useful thing to know before buying.
